Target Market and Social Media – A marriage made in heaven

gfs00110To be successful in social media land it is essential that you know who your target market is.  If you have never heard the words, “Target Market”  before you need to click away from this blog post, go to google, google it, and spend the next little while working it out and then come back and keep reading. To run successful social media for your business you need to be absolutely clear who your target market is.  You need to know:

  • – how old they are and where do they live
  • – what magazines do they read
  • – where do they hang out on the weekend
  • – do they have kids, a dog, both
  • – what TV shows do they watch
  • – where do they go out for dinner
  • – where do they holiday
  • – how much a year on average do they earn
  • – where  and how do they spend their money
  • … and the list goes on

IF you can answer these questions you have a much better chance of running a great social media space. WHY I hear you ask? Because you will be able to attract and engage the right people.Social Media is not about you and the things that you and your business like.  It is about your customers and the things that they like.  If you KNOW who your target market is, then you can post things of interest to them.
